Frequently Asked Questions
How is the MAC Plus different from the Victron Orion XS?
Both are 50A 12V-to-12V DC-DC chargers with LiFePO4 profiles. The MAC Plus adds CZone/digital-switching integration and automatic alternator load management — the right pick for a fully networked Mastervolt build. The Victron Orion XS is the simpler, Bluetooth-app pick for a standalone install.
What size battery bank does the 50A MAC Plus suit?
Mid-to-large 12V banks, typically 200Ah and up. A common rule of thumb is a charge current of 20–50% of the bank's amp-hours, so 50A pairs well with ~100–250Ah of LiFePO4.
Does it protect my alternator?
Yes — automatic load management limits the draw so it won't overheat or over-draw your vehicle's alternator.
Which batteries does it work with?
LiFePO4, AGM, gel, and flooded lead-acid — the charge profile is selectable to match your bank.
How is it wired?
It connects between your starter battery and house bank, fused at each end, and charges whenever the engine is running. Our System Build Helper shows where it sits in a complete wiring diagram.
